48. Gold Manjurshri Mandala
Style: Gold (ser-thang)

Manjurshri is the bodhisattva of wisdom, intelligence, and willpower. He is also the emanation of Vairochana Buddha. This is a circular gold paintingwith Manjurshri in the center. There are four chortens placed in each cardinal direction. The chortens symbolize the four Dhyani Buddhas. The purpose of mandalas is for the practitioner to enter the outer realms and work inward toward Manjurshri’s Eastern Pure Land.

This is done through meditation. Once in the center a practitioner can achieve Enlightenment.
