44. Saraswati
Style: All Color (tson-thang)

Sarasavati is revered as both a Hindu and Buddhist deity, and is the goddess of music and poetry. In a few Buddhist cults; she is identified as the female appearance of Vairochana. Practitioners might also revere Sarasavati for good luck or material gains. She is often portrayed seated, holding or playing an instrument called a veena.

Similar to the White Tara, she is usually depicted with her left hand in the Varadamudra and her right hand and holding the stem of a white lotus in the other. In Hindu traditions, Saraswati is the embodiment of the Saravati River. Here, Saraswati was painted on a black canvas.
