12. Amitabha Buddha
Style: All-Color (tson-thang)

Amitabha Buddha is a long life and pure land deity. In the Mahayana tradition, Amitabha is often depicted standing with the Varada, or the welcoming mudra. This is seen in some areas of Tibet, but often in China and Japan. On their deathbed, practitioners will look at Amitabha and recite Amitabha’s mantra. The practitioner does this to enter Amitabha’s Paradise Realm and be welcomed by him.
